International Film Festival 2026
The magic of cinema returns to Goa this November as the 57th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) takes place from 20 to 28 November 2026. Organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, in association with the Government of Goa and the Entertainment Society of Goa, IFFI brings together filmmakers, actors, industry professionals, students and cinema lovers from India and around the world. Established in 1952, IFFI is recognised as a competitive international film festival by FIAPF and has grown into one of Asia's most important celebrations of cinema.
Stories Without Borders
The theme for IFFI 2026, “Stories Without Borders,” captures the universal power of cinema to connect people, cultures and ideas. This year's official poster uses IFFI's iconic peacock motif in a vibrant contemporary design, reflecting the festival's focus on cinematic excellence, cultural diversity and storytelling from across the globe.
For nine days, Goa will once again become a meeting place for world cinema and Indian cinema, offering audiences opportunities to discover films from different countries, languages and cultures while meeting the creative minds behind them.
What to Expect at IFFI 2026
The festival programme is set to feature a rich mix of international and Indian film screenings, competitions, premieres, retrospectives, tributes, masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions and conversations with leading personalities from the film world. The festival will also host the popular IFFI Mela, bringing cinema closer to the public through cultural programmes and interactive experiences.
One of the major attractions for the film industry will be WAVES Film Bazaar, scheduled alongside IFFI from 20 to 24 November. The market provides a platform for filmmakers and content creators to connect with producers, buyers, distributors and international industry representatives, helping Indian stories find audiences and opportunities around the world.
Films, Awards & Global Recognition
At the heart of IFFI are its prestigious competitions and awards, including the Golden Peacock for Best Film, Silver Peacock awards for Best Director and Best Actor, the Special Jury Award and the award for Best Debut Feature Film of a Director. The festival also presents the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award and the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award, celebrating outstanding contributions to cinema.
