Goa Carnival is a pre-Lenten festival with roots in Portuguese tradition that’s evolved into a statewide cultural celebration featuring:

• Decorated floats & street parades

• Live music, samba and folk dance

• Performers in colourful costumes

• King Momo leading celebrations (symbolising feasting and fun before Lent)

• Street theatre, food stalls, family activities, and night parties around parade venues.

King Momo is an iconic carnival figure who traditionally inaugurates the festivities with his message of joy and revelry.
